Mikaela is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Cyprus and member of the Cyprus Bar Association. She holds a Law and European Legal Studies diploma (LLB with Honours) from the University of Kent, Canterbury. Mikaela is a member of the Technology Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association.
Mikaela commenced her career at a London City law firm in the Financial Markets team and assisted on securitisation and portfolio sale transactions for reputable banks and financial institutions. Prior to joining the firm she worked for several years in the law firms of two Big4 firms serving in senior and managerial positions in Corporate & Commercial, Financial Services, Funds & Capital Markets teams.
She is experienced in the provision of legal and regulatory advice to alternative investment funds and fund managers, investment firms, financial institutions and other regulated entities. Mikaela has significant experience in the set-up and licensing of electronic money institutions and payment service providers and other FinTech companies. In the tech space she has assisted Cyprus start-ups with their business set-up and seed proposals.
She has an avid interest for Blockchain and DLT technology and has undertaken various training sessions, including cryptocurrency and technology courses. Mikaela frequently writes online articles on Legal Tech, Reg-Tech, Fintech and other disruptive technologies.
Mikaela is fluent in English, Greek and conversational in Spanish.
